Scriptwriting – Paul Wells – Basics Animation

“Here the law of universal metamorphism: anything can become something else. Like fantasy and science fiction, animation leans towards the action genres of cartoon farce (Bugs Bunny); or high adventure (The Sword in the Stone, The Yellow Submarine); and because the youth audience is its natural market, many maturation plots (The Lion King, The Little Mermaid); but as the animators of Eastern Europe and Japan have shown, there are no restraints (McKee, 1999)” –

Love this statement! It is what I have felt for so long while while researching animation and looking how to bring my “adult” stories to animation in USA. Is the audience here ready for it?
